This course examines the criminal justice system of the Republic of Ireland in comparison to the United States. Police, courts, corrections, and juvenile justice systems are included in the topics of discussion. This course will take place primarily in Dublin, Ireland where students will meet with professionals from each of these specialized areas. Students will participate in tours of historical locations. They will also participate in discussions on the significance of the history and culture to the development of Ireland’s criminal justice system.
