Tanaka & Green Scholarship (Japan)

In 2014 JASW established the Tanaka and Green Academic Scholarships to support short-term academic study (one semester or one academic year) at colleges and universities in Japan. The scholarships are made possible thanks to the Society’s H. William and Lily Tanaka Scholarship Endowment and the Marshal and Lispenard Green Educational Endowment. The Society will award scholarships for one academic year or for one academic semester.

BUTEX Scholarship

BUTEX awards a number of scholarships to students studying abroad for either a semester or for a whole academic year. Each scholarship is £500. Pitt Students studying abroad through one of the following United Kingdom exchange programs are eligible for the BUTEX scholarship. These include: 

Boren Scholarship for Undergraduate Students (Academic Year/ Fall/ Spring/Summer)

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The countries of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded. 
 

Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation (Spring/Summer or Fall)

The Ashley Soulé Conroy Foundation awards up to three scholarships per semester. Students must be participating in a program lasting 14 weeks or longer to be eligible for this scholarship.

Asher & Lyric Study Abroad Scholarship (Fall or Spring)

The Asher & Lyric Study Abroad Scholarship awards one student winner and one student runner -up per academic term (Fall or Spring) with a scholarship for studying abroad.  Students must be full-time students who has already applied or been accepted into a study abroad program eligible for credit by their university. You must be planning to study outside the US and Canada. Students are to submit a an essay as part of the application.
