Adam VanGorder

Adam graduated from the Swanson School of Engineering with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 2017. He is currently a second-year master's student of International Affairs at the Pennsylvania State University,  where he is focussing on International Energy Development and Sustainability Management & Policy.   While at Pitt, Adam participated in a short-term study abroad program in Cusco, Peru, and a semester exchange in Rio and Curitiba, Brazil. He also went on two international tours with the Heinz Chapel Choir, to Bulgaria and the Balkans (2014) and to England and Scotland (2017). After graduation, he moved to DC where he worked in Deloitte's government and public sector practice. While there, he participated in a social entrepreneurship fellowship that took him to Phnom Penh, Cambodia where he worked with an INGO that worked against human trafficking and modern slavery. A consistent highlight from all of these experiences was the fact that they brought people from diverse backgrounds and identities together, and the approach to finding solutions was strengthened because of it!
