Dr. Jonathan Seefeldt

Jonathan Seefeldt is an educator with deep-rooted connections to Mussoorie and the Himalayas. Born and raised in north India, his research on climate change and water scarcity in South Asia has personal as well as academic dimensions. From 2014 to 2017, Jonathan served as the Head of Upper Years at Woodstock School before returning to the University of Texas at Austin to complete his PhD in Environmental History. Prior to his time at Woodstock, Jonathan worked for seven years with the South Asia Institute and Hindi Urdu Flagship programs at the University of Texas. He has taught courses on the history, literature, and religious traditions of early modern South Asia. Jonathan’s current research focuses on the history of large-scale water engineering in north India.
