OIST Research Internship Program

The OIST Graduate School offers education and research opportunities through our Research Intern program. The duration of the internship is typically from 2 to 6 months. These short-term placements give students the opportunity to gain experience in a particular laboratory or to learn a specific technique. Interns will work under the direction of a Professor and contribute to the research activities of OIST.  Current projects and faculty available for hosting reserach intern.

 

Internships may begin and end at any time during the year, with two application periods. For details about the application process and deadlines, please see the OIST webpage - section "Apply to Research Internship."  
Applicants are not required to have Japanese language experience - the working language will be in English.  This is a very competitive program and funding is awarded to successful applicants.  Funding may include an intenrship allowanc ean travel allowance. For more details refer to the OIST website.  Because this program and award is very competitive, we suggest you begin the application process early.
Pitt's application requirements include: 

  • Student in good standing- no disciplinary record
  • Minimum 3.25 GPA
  • Have well-defined study, research or internship plans for the program
  • Students that have completed at least 4 semesters of university-level academics are encouraged to apply.

Please note that Pitt's application deadline is NOT the same as the OIST deadline.  The published OIST deadline for  Summer 2022 is 10/15/21.   The Pitt application deadline for this program is 10/11/21.

Konnichiwa! After working for the JET program in Japan for just over two years, I decided to pursue a career in international education.
