Pricing And Dates

Scholarships may be granted for a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 3 months during the summer.You will receive a monthly scholarship of 750 Euros for full month. The amount will be calculated on a daily basis if you will stay less than 23 days a month. DAAD provides health insurance, accident and personal liability insurance. All interns are invited to the three-day RISE Germany meeting in Heidelberg at the beginning of July and will receive an allowance of 160 Euros for travel to the meeting.

This is intended to cover the cost of living while in Germany.

Internships can typically start Mid-May.  Check the DAAD-RISE website for update information on dates and pre-departure information that can help you plan.

  • Health Insurance (if required by German gov.)

The University of Pittsburgh provides comprehensive health insurance as a part of studying abroad. More information about the type of insurance and coverage can be provided to you by the Engineering International Programs office.  However, you might need to purchase additional insurance if the school you will attend requires you to purchase a specific health insurance per their regulations. It is your responsibility to ensure you know the cost of that insurance prior to committing to the program.
