The University of Pittsburgh is pleased to sponsor a program which is offered both fall and spring semesters in the heart of London, one of the most vibrant, artistic, and cultural cities in the world. Pitt in London affords students the opportunity to study the humanities, business, social sciences and communications in this internationally diverse capital city. The program is conveniently located in the Royal Borough of Kensington, just blocks away from the Kensington Palace and Gardens, Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The Program:
The University of Pittsburgh collaborates with the Centers for Academic Programs Abroad (CAPA), the London-based organization which coordinates all of the on-site program logistics. The CAPA office and classrooms are located on Cromwell Road, a few blocks from the Gloucester Road tube station and minutes away from the Kensington Palace and Gardens, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Students will take classes at the CAPA center or in other classrooms arranged by CAPA.
Courses are offered in a variety of disciplines by British faculty from various institutions of higher education in London. Optional internships with British organizations and businesses are offered to students interested in gaining valuable work experience in their desired field. Each course offered is worth 3 credits, except the Arts and Sciences London Internship which is worth 6 credits (CBA students earn 3 credits). All students must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits and can take a maximum of 15 credits. All credits and grades earned on this program (with the exception of internship grades) will be recorded on the Pitt transcript and figured into the Pitt QPA calculation.
Students will be taking classes and living with other American students. The best opportunities to meet the British include interning, living with a host family, or joining student clubs and societies at the University of London at Imperial College.

Internships
Academic 6-credit internships are available for students who want to complement their semester in London with practical work experience. Internships are unpaid and are available in a variety of fields including, but NOT limited to: advertising, education, politics, theater, communications, public relations, marketing, social services, tourism, medicine, museum management, and information technology. Students will also be enrolled in the Perspectives on Experiential Learning Abroad (PELA) course for 2 hours per week (except CBA Internship students).
Students interested in this opportunity will be required to submit the Pitt in London Internship Application which consists of the following: Internship Agreement Form, a polished resume/CV, a cover letter, one academic AND one professional reference, and two passport size photos. Students will have an interview for their internship upon arrival in London. There is no extra fee to complete an internship, HOWEVER, a cancellation fee is charged if the student drops the internship. You must attend a Pitt in London Information Session to obtain an internship application. Internship applications must arrive complete by the program application deadline. Otherwise, students will not be able to participate in the internship program. No late applications (program or internship) will be accepted.
