Fulbright is sponsored by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright Program provides funding for students, scholars, teachers, and professionals to undertake graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.
UK Fulbright Commission Summer Institutes for US Undergraduates provides funding for 3-6 week summer programs at a number of UK universities or cultural institutions.
The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.
Boren Scholarships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their educations. We focus on geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. national security, broadly defined, and underrepresented in study abroad.
The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships program provides allocations of academic year and summer fellowships to institutions of higher education or consortia of institutions of higher education to assist meritorious undergraduate students and graduate students undergoing training in modern foreign languages and related area or international studies. Eligible students apply for fellowships directly to an institution that has received an allocation of fellowships from the U.S. Department of Education.
The German Academic Exchange Service provides up to two years of funding for post baccalaureate study and research in Germany.
DAAD RISE matches students with research groups that facilitate a 2-3 month summer research opportunity in Germany.
Humanity in Action Fellowship allows fellows travel to Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, or France for a five-week program (in early summer) that focuses on human rights and minority issues.
Critical Language Scholarship institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks. Focus on foreign languages of critical need, including Arabic, Korean, and many others. It is expected that applicants plan to use their language skills in their career.
Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program provides funding to participants as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service.
Thomas Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship program provides funding to participants as they are prepared academically and professionally to enter the United States Department of State Foreign Service.
