Travel and Health Insurance Coverage Overseas

All Pitt students must demonstrate that they will have health insurance, emergency medical evacuation, and repatriation insurance for their time overseas. To accommodate this requirement, the University of Pittsburgh has contracted with HTH Insurance, one of the largest providers of travel and health coverage in the world to provide affordable and thorough coverage for its students. Students who are participating on Panther Programs are automatically covered by HTH insurance for the duration of their program(s).

For further details about and to enroll in the HTH coverage, please visit the following website:

http://www.hthstudents.com/ge.cfm?ac=IIN-6734

By clicking "I Agree" on the first page of the above website, students and parents may download copies of the up-to-date certificate of insurance as well as a policy brochure. Students may then click to the next page to enter the information required to process the health insurance request.

Students may appeal to exempt themselves from the purchase of HTH coverage if they are covered by other means. For instance, some students will be covered under a parent or guardian's current policy. Other students may choose programs that have this coverage built-in. If a student wishes to exempt themselves from the purchase of HTH insurance, that student must submit complete documentation of coverage overseas upon the return of their study abroad contract.
