Fulbright US Student Program
FULBRIGHT U.S. STUDENT PROGRAM INFORMATION SESSIONS THROUGHOUT MARCH AND APRIL
Interested in applying for the Fulbright US Student program?  Curious as to who can apply, and what the award covers?

Sign up for an information sessionto go over everything you need to know to apply for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

The session will cover the mandatory steps in applying for the Fulbright, including the MANDATORY CAMPUS APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS that are not covered on the Fulbright's website.  It will also give you some things to think about when considering the content of your proposal, the best way to go about securing letters of recommendation and country affiliation, the type of country that is right for you, and more.  

WHAT - Fulbright Information Sessions
WHERE - Room 1228 in the Cathedral of Learning
WHEN - Regularly throughout March and April.  The next session will be held on March 18th at 2:00 PM; see complete list of dates/times at http://scholarships.honorscollege.pitt.edu/calendar.html. 
WHO - Applicants may be seniors, graduate students, and alumni, and must be US Citizens (if you plan to go in the Fall of 2011, you must start thinking about your application NOW).  Anyone interested in the Fulbright may attend the session.
PLEASE NOTE - Current Pitt undergrads MUST attend one of these sessions if they plan on applying for the Fulbright.

The Fulbright provides funding for one year abroad in one of over 155 countries to study and/or conduct research OR one-year English Teaching Assistantships in one of over forty countries.  Please visit their website at http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html

Benjamin Gilman Scholarship
The Gilman International Scholarship Program is pleased to announce the opening of the Fall 2010 online application with over 1,700 scholarships to be awarded.  A limited number of summer awards will be available to students majoring in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) who meet the program's standard eligibility criteria listed below.

*        Enrolled as an undergraduate student at a two or four-year U.S. Institution
*        United States citizen
*        Receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or during the term of study abroad
*        Participating in a study abroad program that is no less than 4 weeks and no more than an academic year
*        Receiving academic credit
*        Study in any country not currently under a U.S. State Department Travel Warning or Cuba

IIE Midwest Grant
These scholarships are awarded to students attending a University or College in the midwest (western PA included). Visit www.iie.org/midwest/grants/ for more information.

Rotary Foundation International Scholarships

Bridging Scholarships
Sponsored by the Association of Teachers of Japanese, scholarships are available for students who study in Japan for one semester or a full year. Scholarship winners will receive a stipend of $2,500 for a semester or $4,000 for a one year program. Eligible applicants are undergraduate students majoring in any field of study. AIEJ (Association for International Education in Japan) Scholarships
Scholarships are available to Pitt students studying for one year at Kansai Gaidai, Ritsumeikan, or Konan universities. The scholarships can provide round-trip airfare, monthly stipend, and settling-in stipend. For more information, please contact the Asian Studies Center.

Freeman Asian Scholarships
Generous grants for at least 8 weeks of study in Asia provided by the Freeman Foundation. Visit www.iie.org/pgms/freeman-asia/ for more information.

David L. Boren Scholarships (formerly NSEP)
These awards are for mature students who focus on countries and languages outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
Offers scholarships for undergraduates for full year programs in Germany.

Masa Israel Grants
Students or students studying for a semester or full year in Israel may be awarded up to $200.00 for their program.
