Study Abroad Office Interns

By interning in the SAO, you will get to share all of the stories, knowledge, and pointers you have gained from your experiences abroad and are respected as members of the SAO team, performing meaningful work for the office. Primarily, you will serve as a Peer Advisor, helping other students through the study abroad process. You will also complete an intern project to benefit the work of the SAO (examples: literary magazine, outreach events, etc). Academic internships through the SAO are unpaid and generally require you to work for 9-10 hours per week to earn 3 credits. They also require that you have a faculty advisor of your choosing who must agree to support your internship and evaluate your work.

Brice Lynn is currently a junior at the University of Pittsburgh, studying Hispanic Languages and Literatures, as well as American Sign Langauge.  Since his freshman year of high school, Brice dreamed of traveling to and studying in Spain...a dream which became a reality in the Spring of 2009.  During his semester abroad in Granada, he had the opportunity to experience all that Spain has to offer: rich history, beautiful weather, and amazing food!  He looks forward to (hopefully) studying abroad again this summer in Latin America, and hopes to someday be able utilize his experiences in the classroom as a Spanish teacher.

Tracey is currently a junior majoring in accounting with a minor in economics.  She is also working toward a Certificate in International Business.  In the summer of 2009, she studied abroad in Atenas, Costa Rica with the School for Field Studies.  She had the time of her life engaging in a community effort to protect the environment and biodiversity.  This trip made her realize her love for traveling and experiencing diverse cultures unlike her own.  Her unforgettable experience abroad exceeded her expectations and she recommends this amazing opportunity to everyone!  She looks forward to interning abroad in the near future.
