Student Life

Aberystwyth has something for everyone. Chosen as the UK’s greatest town in 2015, it is a vibrant, safe, coastal community, where students are a major part of everyday life. The town has a great range of shops, a growing café culture, and a lively nightlife.  Our natural and built environment is truly spectacular. Students often choose to take advantage of our coastal location by using our beaches as a contemplative space to study, socialise with friends at a barbecue or party, relax watching the dolphins swim across the bay, or participate in water sports. The activities and facilities available within the University and town combine a superb student experience.

Life in Aberystwyth is not all about work. You need time to make friends and to develop social networks. Aberystwyth is well known for having a wide range of popular clubs and societies.

Exchange students are free to join a sporting club or society. Sport brings together students with shared interests. It’s a great way to meet new people, participate in activities and gain new skills outside of your academic environment. There is no limit to how many clubs you can join, and you can also start one of your own!  Visit this website to see a full list of activities on-campus.

Hailing from the great state of Texas, I am the exchange program manager at the Study Abroad Office at Pitt.  I am so excited to be a part of your exchange experience, be it here at Pitt or over at another institution overseas.  I studied abroad in Tuscany, Italy, while I was in school and absolutely loved all the experiences that came with exploring fresh pasta, Renaissance art and new experiences.  I certainly hope that you will love your exchange experience just as much wherever you choose.  Outside of the office, I am all about cities, food, art history and tea.  Good eating and traveling!  Let me know if you should have any questions at jessicasun@pitt.edu or at +1 412-383-7165.
